Today's Tally
Published March 27th, 2003 in Sanguire SeriesHelifino. Actually, I think I’ve made a thousand words, easy. I’ve spent the day with Omni Outliner. Did the complete outline for Born of Silence as well as added a few scenes and notes. Now I’m a third of the way through the characters. I’ve discovered that the plot’s getting thicker and more convoluted as I go. Even coming up with information on the characters is doing it.
For example:
My original idea of Margaurethe was simply a woman from a past life who would help Jenna get through what she needs to get through. Now I come to realize that M is working in a vacuum. She has no enemies, no allies, no lackeys. It’s been several hundred years! She’s HAD to come in contact with others during this time! Who were they?
Which then begs the question of how do these new characters fit into the picture? Are they mainstream or minor? Supporting, enemies of J by extension or not?
And now I find that one of my villains may have a change of heart somewhere in the next couple of books!
I’ve got this book outlined but I now know that there’s one more, possibly two, in the future. And then there’s the prequel! While this book concentrates on Jenna, what of the other two? Maybe one can concentrate on Valmont and the other Margaurethe? And the prequel will be an historical novel - hel, maybe THREE depending on what that story is like!
If it turns into a series of books (3 to 6 by my reckoning at the minimum,) what will I call it? My original title was Born of Silence for this book. I know the series will have to have Sanguire in the title as that’s the name of this race.
Whew!
Who knew it would get this complicated?
