The Biography
(Insert ominous music here)
Born in 1961, D Jordan Redhawk missed the sixties entirely, something she considered quite annoying. Instead, her teenaged years were spent in the seventies, ala Dazed and Confused.
As a child, she pined to do the artistic things - singing, sculpture, drawing, and writing. The potential for a liberal or fine arts degree was quite high, nurtured by a mother who enjoyed painting and crafts and a father who aspired at one time to become a science fiction writer.
She spent many years traveling, attaining the dubious joy of attending twelve schools in twelve years upon her graduation. Shunning college, she spent the next few years kicking around, making the mistakes all young adults do, and finding rock and roll.
After a stint in the military (US Army, Military Police,) she hooked up with a wonderful woman who taught her many things, first and foremost the ability to love herself. Redhawk also gave college a go, and discovered airbrush.
A few years passed as she made a stab at becoming a professional artist / illustrator. Unfortunately, what with family emergencies and the like, she was forced to move into a very small loft apartment. Her airbrush equipment couldn’t fit and it was packed away.
Unable to stay away from creating, Redhawk began cruising the internet (her biggest addiction) in search of something. She found fiction online and read it avidly until nothing appealed. At that time, she began to write her own to fill the void.
Two years later, a publisher approached Redhawk and the first printing of Tiopa Ki Lakota hit the world.
Since then, she has made a conscious attempt to write rather than draw. The airbrush equipment has been sold and her computer has been upgraded to a Macintosh. She has published three books to date, with the possibilty of many more.
